Katie Franklyn

Katie brings a diverse range of experience to the Talenting team, with over 10 years’ experience in human resources and employment relations working across a range of industries including government, education, mining and energy.
Having started her career as a HR generalist at Rio Tinto, Katie is skilled in all aspects of the HR life cycle including talent attraction and retention, policy development, organisational change and performance management. Having subsequently specialised in employment relations, Katie is also highly experienced in workplace investigations, enterprise bargaining, negotiation and conflict resolution.
Katie is passionate about change and innovation and is experienced working with small business and start-ups. She is aware of contemporary trends and work practices and looks for opportunities to apply these in organisational settings. She is comfortable working in a variety of fast-paced environments and is keen to drive change and achieve results.
Katie has a keen interest in people and the psychology behind how and why they are motivated to work in the way they do. To this end she is passionate about corporate wellness and ensuring people are placed in the right roles, where the values of the person are aligned to those of the organisation.
Katie has been identified as a high potential employee at Rio Tinto and high potential leader through the Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) Talent ID program. Her key strengths involve relating to people, building relationships, anticipating future problems or trends and adapting to change.
Katie has two bachelor degrees from the University of Western Australia in Law and Commerce and is admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
